This is a great choice that resembles the infamous Hilo Maile Lei. As many in our industry know the Hilo Maile Lei is often in shortage throughout the year as there are few places in the mountains that the Maile vines can grow. For this reason we recommend the Ti Leaf Maile Style Lei as a perfect substitute. It is also a great substitute for those who wish to ship to California as their agriculture inspections are quite stringent with Hilo Maile. IMPORTANT NOTE: Ti Leaf Lei can stain clothing. You must allow the Ti Leaf Maile Style Lei to fully dry out at room temperature for about 2 hours before use. If you receive your lei with any residue that is oily or gel like which is normal, please rinse the lei with fresh water. For best results dunk the lei in a container or tub of water and then hang the lei until it is dry for use.
Shelf Life: This Lei is Durable however it is temperature sensitive. It can last about 5 days and sometimes longer provided it's stored between 50-55F. Standard refrigerators are fine. You can freeze after wearing for re-use again. If you have a Ti leaf twisted with Orchid, Jasmine or Pikake please separate the ti leaf and do not freeze the Orchid, Jasmine or Pikake flower lei.
Recommended Shipping: We recommend overnight shipping as this lei is temperature sensitive. We also offer 2nd Day shipping, please contact us for Saturday deliveries. We pack every order neatly with gel ice packs to keep your order at ideal temperatures.

During May and June it is our busy season. We will always do our best to fulfill all orders as close to the original order as possible. However, in some instances the flowers or other items needed for your order are unavailable. In this case Shaka Leis will substitute with products that are equal or in most cases greater in value. When a substitution is made Shaka Lei will use flowers they have on-hand to provide something as similar as possible. This may mean that the recipient will not necessarily receive product(s) that are identical to what is pictured on our site.
