Maile & Ti Leaf Maile Style

The Maile Lei is a traditional Hawaiian Lei made from Maile Vines that grow high in the cool sections of the Hawaiian Mountains.  This lei is a masculine lei and is typically worn by men. It is most common to see this lei during Hawaiian weddings worn by the groom.  It is also quite popular for men to wear for graduations.  

The Maile vines are 100% locally grown and native to Hawaii.  However unlike other flowers that may be commercially grown the maile vines can only be grown under the right natural conditions.  These vines are quite rare and have to be precisely gathered by local Hawaiian experts which requires hours of hiking into the high parts of the Hawaiian rainforest.  After they are harvested the vines need to be cleaned thoroughly and woven into their final form. This Lei is worn open ended and is about 5 feet in length draped over a man’s shoulders.     

This lei will enhance any man making them stand out and pronounce that individual.  As mentioned earlier this lei is traditionally worn by someone who is being honored which can be a wedding, promotion, graduation and retirement.  It is also commonly worn by dignitaries making speeches or in groundbreaking of a new construction project and in special business meetings with esteemed guests.
